Harriet could find neither her cell nor the landline phone and as she fumbled around near the cash register. The confusion of the morning finally got to her and she sat down on the floor behind the counter. She probably should have thought to turn the sign to closed on the door to her pet store. Jonathan rushed to the chapel. It was still very early in the morning, but after the restless night behind him, getting there was the only thing on his mind.
The small building was still lit by a few candelabras, the candles recently replaced by the early-rising priest. He went straight to the confessional and shut the door behind him. As he knelt he heard the priest close the door beside him and take a seat.
